Boutonnières

I have come to really love a boutonniere. Especially the ones we get to make. Not your basic stiff rose, but a unique mini work of art. One of my favorite things is to wander the fields, snipping stems with cool little details that would be lost in any other setting. I also love the way they transform the wearer. Suits are lovely, but a boutonniere lets everyone know that THIS day is an extra special one. I prefer to pin them on everyone myself so they sit just right, but if you ever have to pin one yourself remember-the British Term is a “Buttonhole” which tells you exactly where it should be pinned. If you are imagining a flower threaded through the buttonhole of the lapel you won’t accidentally pin it too low. I like to use a pin at the top and at the bottom as well to prevent spinning when the wearer is being hugged.
